DRUPALCAMP MÉXICO - PUEBLA 2013
It's been a while since my last DrupalCamp or DrupalCon and so I'm looking forward to attending the upcoming DrupalCamp in Puebla, Mexico, which is not to far from Veracruz, where I am now.
Perhaps I should offer to give a session on "Espanol and English with Drupal" that addresses the ins and outs of bilingual sites and how Drupal can be a fun way to enhance your skills with either language.

Drupal Meetup in Santa Barbara - Tues 9/28 @ 6:30
I recently attended a productive meet-up in Santa Barbara hosted and organized by Pia Oliver. This group is aimed at solving everyday issues with Drupal that members encounter. Several of the members have expressed that they enjoy the UCSB meetups and LADrupalCamps, but feel a need from something more concrete and can be applied to their day-to-day tasks with Drupal.
The 7 or 8 group members are of all skill levels, but generally new to Drupal. Some were brand new to Drupal and websites, some have design backgrounds, some had already installed Drupal on their laptops, running as localhosts using MAMP or the Acquia stack. See the discussion at GDO post for more background on the group.

Ojai Dojo Guest House Opens - Discounts for Apperceive and Digital Dojo Events

Our good friend and partner Alicia Coral has opened a bed and breakfast style guest house next door to the Apperceive offices and the Ojai Digital Dojo training center (... where media production and distribution are martial arts).
Alicia has done some fine work enhancing the two private suites, including a new luxury bath and tub, beautiful new glass doors to enhance privacy and that special quiet that some enjoy while listening to the birds, wind chimes and water fountains. Even a new ramp for greater accessibility.
The guest house has a variety of room configurations, but the key offering is a 3 bedroom suite that is perfect for a small group of 3-6 people who want to stay overnight or over the weekend for a learning event or training session at the Digital Dojo.
Combine that with a fun event like the Ojai Film Festival or some horse back riding in the Ventura River Nature Preserve or hiking one of our many prized trails in the Los Padres National Forrest.
Apperceive and Dojo event participants qualify for a discount rate at the guest house and we will be putting together some great training and lodging combination packages. Keep an eye on this blog and site for more information about these events and packages. More details soon. Feel free to suggest topics and dates. What would you like to see in the way of Ojai getaway + training.
For more details about facilities, reservations and pricing, check out the Ojai Dojo Guest House. Mention this blog post or the code 'apperceive' for a 10% discount on posted prices.
Turning Lemons in to Lemonade

I recently had my first bad experience with freelancing gigs I've responded to on Craigslist. I've started a series on what has and will transpire with one of these jobs.
This is a not a pretty story, but may be of interest to others and will also provide documentation as we pursue litigation.
For the full story about how we got ripped off by Rian Edwards of Dos Cabezas and what we are doing about it. The fist step begins with these articles.
